Information

Events

Sprint Distance: 500m Swim, 13.8 mile bike, 3 mile run.

Divisions

The minimum age to participate in this event is 10. The swim and bike portions of a triathlon can be very physically demanding. The bike and run course are held on roads that are open to vehicle traffic. We strongly encourage parents to become familiar with the course before submitting an entry for a child under the age of 14.

Open

The Open division is available to any participant in the event. The open wave will be the first to start. Participants are encouraged to enter this wave if they expect to be in the top 50 finishers, but anyone is welcome. Participants in the open wave will not be eligible for age group awards or USAT rankings. There will be awards and/or prizes to the top 10 male and female participants in the open division. The open division exists so that the age group waves are more friendly, and so that participants who are interested in competing head to head, regardless of age, may do so.

Awards

Awards to the top 10 overall males and females, and overall masters male female. Awards will also be presented to the top 3 male and female in each age group, starting at 19 & Under and going to 65+ in 5 year increments. Awards will be presented at the event or may be picked up at Jack and Adam's Bicycles. Awards will not be mailed out.

Don T. Bonk

Don T. Bonk patrols the last part of the run course. He calls this area the Don T. Bonk Zone. To finish the triathlon you will need to pass through his zone. We know it’s not easy to keep running at the end of a race, when you must pass through the Don T. Bonk zone. So we are going to help you out. Run all the way through the Don T. Bonk zone, and he’ll give you a treat after the race.. You must run. No walking!

USAT Sanctioned Event

This is a USAT sanctioned event. The following rules must be followed:

  • You must pick up your packet in person. No exceptions.
  • The age group of a participant will be determined by age on Dec. 31 of the event year, not by age on race day. For example, if you turn 25 years old in July of 2008, you will race and be ranked in the 25-29 age group for the entire 2008 season.
  • All youth ages 17 and under are required to be annual USAT members to compete in sanctioned events in 2008. The cost of an annual youth membership is $5 per year.
